Devon House is a historic mansion and a national monument in Kingston, Jamaica, that showcases the rich and diverse heritage of Jamaica. It was built in 1881 by George Stiebel, Jamaica’s first black millionaire, who made his fortune from gold mining in South America. The mansion is a splendid example of Caribbean and Georgian architecture, featuring elegant rooms, antique furniture, and exquisite artworks.

The mansion is surrounded by 11 acres of lush gardens and lawns, where you can stroll, relax, and enjoy the scenery. Devon House is also a center for gastronomy, shopping, and entertainment, where you can sample the famous Devon House ice cream, rated among the best in the world; visit the various shops and boutiques that offer local crafts, souvenirs, and delicacies; or join one of the many events and festivals that take place throughout the year.  Devon House is located in the heart of Kingston, Jamaica’s capital city and cultural hub. It is about 100 kilometers (62 miles) or two hours drive from Ocho Rios, one of the main tourist destinations on the north coast of Jamaica. You can get there by car, bus, or taxi along the scenic A4 highway that follows the coastline1. Along the way, you can enjoy the breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea, the Blue Mountains, and the Rio Grande Valley. You can also stop by some of the attractions that dot the route, such as Dunn’s River Falls2, a spectacular waterfall that cascades into the sea; Mystic Mountain3, an eco-adventure park with zip lines, bobsleds, and chairlifts; and Dolphin Cove4, a dolphin habitat where you can swim with these amazing creatures.
