Jamaica Swamp Safari Village is a wildlife sanctuary and adventure park that showcases the diverse and fascinating animals of Jamaica and beyond.
It is located on 50 acres of natural mangrove habitat in Falmouth, Trelawny, and was established in 1969 by an American crocodile farmer named Ross Kananga.
The park is home to more than 30 American crocodiles, as well as other exotic creatures such as lions, leopards, monkeys, snakes, and birds.
You can explore the park on a guided walking tour, where you can learn about the animals’ behaviors and conservation, and even get to hold a baby crocodile or a Jamaican boa. You can also watch the thrilling crocodile show, where the expert handler Donald ‘Buddy’ Roach enters the crocodile pens and demonstrates their power and agility.
Jamaica Swamp Safari Village is not only a wildlife attraction, but also a movie location. It was featured in the 1972 James Bond film Live and Let Die, where the famous crocodile jumping stunt was performed by Ross Kananga himself.
The park also has a sign that reads “Trespassers Will Be Eaten”, which reportedly caught the attention of the movie producers. Jamaica Swamp Safari Village is a place where you can experience the wild side of Jamaica, and have a fun and educational adventure.
